Grill Safety Tips

Even though summer is officially drawing to a close, in the Richmond area we cook on our outdoor grills almost all year long. We all know that a grill can pose a serious fire hazard if not used safely. Most people know that grills can cause your wood home to catch fire if left too close, but did you know that it is possible for an outdoor grill to melt your vinyl siding? Vinyl siding on modern homes, while appealing to the eye and low maintenance, is subject to possible heat damage. Use caution when grilling outside your home.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says to use the grill at least 10 feet away from your house or any building. Do not use the grill in a porch, garage, breezeway, carport, or under a surface that can catch fire. Other grill safety tip are available on their website at:
